Hội nghị RCE Khu vực Châu Á-Thái Bình Dương lần thứ 14 về Giáo dục Phát triển Bền vững (ESD) do RCE Greater Gombak chủ trì tổ chức tại Đại học Quốc tế Hồi giáo Malaysia (IIUM), Gombak, Kuala Lumpur diễn ra từ ngày 19-21/7/2022.
Với chủ đề “Trao quyền cho các bản sắc văn hóa địa phương về giáo dục phát triển bền vững” (Empowering Local Wisdom for Education for Sustainable Development), Chủ đề năm nay nêu bật tầm quan trọng của kiến thức và bản sắc văn hóa bản địa (bao gồm các các yếu tố về văn hóa, truyền thống, tín ngưỡng, tâm linh và các kinh nghiệm của cộng đồng bản địa) như một cách tiếp cận hài hòa và thiết thực hơn để phát triển bền vững.
Có ít nhất 30 RCEs từ 20 quốc gia trong khu vực Châu Á – Thái Bình Dương đã tham dự hội nghị qua hình thức trực tuyến và trực tiếp, trong đó, RCE Southern Vietnam do TS. Trần Thị Ngọc Diệp – Trưởng Trung tâm ĐMST&CGCN, Trưởng RCE Southern Vietnam dẫn đoàn tham dự. Hội nghị đã mang lại cái nhìn rộng hơn và nhiều hành động hơn trong việc trao quyền và thúc đẩy phát triển bản sắc văn hóa bản địa để phát triển bền vững.
Qua 03 ngày hội nghị, các nước đã chia sẻ nhiều kinh nghiệm thực tiễn về việc thực hiện các hoạt động thúc đẩy giáo dục phát triển bền vững ở cả 03 khía cạnh là môi trường, kinh tế và xã hội.
Đặc biệt, các thành viên tham dự hội nghị còn được tham quan, trải nghiệm các dự án thực tế phục vụ cộng đồng bản địa (Real World Lab – RWL) tại Malaysia để cảm nhận và học tập kinh nghiệm từ các dự án đã và đang thực hiện 1 cách thành công này. Các dự án thực tế RWL được giới thiệu bao gồm:
– Trạm cứu hộ mèo hoang
– Nông trại nuôi ong Stingless
– Trung tâm Phát triển Cộng đồng & Dịch vụ Xã hội huyện Gombak (PSPK) – là một tổ chức phúc lợi và từ thiện phi lợi nhuận được thành lập vào năm 2006 với 14 chi nhánh hiện nay nhằm mục đích giúp đỡ các thành phần yếu thế trong xã hội (người già, phụ nữ, trẻ em) phục hồi và phát triển về cả kinh tế và tinh thần thông qua các hoạt động giáo dục phát triển bền vững (đào tạo nâng cao năng lực và phát triển kỹ năng về kinh doanh xã hội, tuân thủ các SDGs).
– Tìm hiểu về cuộc sống của người dân Bateq sinh sống trong Vườn Quốc gia Temang Negara, Kuala Tahan, Jerantut, Pahang. Người Bateq là một tộc người bản địa của bộ tộc Negrito, sống chủ yếu bằng săn bắt và hái lượm. Thông qua hoạt động du lịch sinh thái cộng đồng dựa trên các giá trị văn hóa của bộ tộc, đời sống của người dân dần được cải thiện, các giá trị văn hóa và môi trường được bảo tồn.

– Tham quan trường tiểu học SK Kuala Tahan, nơi có lứa trẻ em đầu tiên của dân tộc Bateq theo học.
– Tham quan, học tập kinh nghiệm tại National Centre of Excellence for Indigenous Pedagogy, Institute of Teacher Education Tengku Ampuan Afzan Campus (IPGKTAA), and Kuala Lipis, Pahang.
14TH ASIA-PACIFIC RCE REGIONAL MEETING
Countries in the Asia-Pacific region traditionally have their respective rich history and cultures around sustainability shaped by indigenous knowledge. Greater appreciation, acceptance, and participation in sustainable development agendas could be encouraged among people by recognising local concepts of sustainability and connecting the local practices in this matter. The reinforcement of the values in the Asia-Pacific region, especially its distinct identity in spirituality, ethics, communal activities, etc. would create a holistic, compatible, and appropriate approach to sustainable development involving multi-stakeholders such as the education sector, community members, industries/business, and the government sector.
Under the theme ‘Empowering Local Wisdom for Education for Sustainable Development‘, the 14th Asia-Pacific RCE Regional Meeting was hosted by RCE Greater Gombak, to be held at International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Gombak, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) in hybrid mode, from 19-21 July, 2022. This year’s meeting theme highlighted the importance of indigenous cultural knowledge and identity (including elements of indigenous culture, traditions, beliefs, spirituality, and experiences). ,…) as a more practical and harmonized approach to sustainable development.
At least 30 RCEs from 20 countries in the Asia-Pacific region attended the meeting online and in person, in which, Dr. Tran Thi Ngoc Diep – Head of Center for Innovation & Technology Transfer, Head of RCE Southern Vietnam led the RCE Southern Vietnam delegation to attend. The meeting brought a broader view and more action in empowering and promoting the development of indigenous cultural identity for sustainable development.
Throughout the meeting, many practical experiences on implementing activities to promote education for sustainable development in all three aspects: environment, economy and society were shared by RCEs. Especially, participants also had the opportunity to attend the Real World Labs in Malaysia to learn from these successfully implemented projects, including:
– Abu Hurairah Club IIUM (animal shelter);
– Stingless Bee Farm;
– The Association of Services and Community Development of Gombak District, Selangor (PSPK): a non-profitable welfare and charitable organization set up in 2006 with 14 branches currently aimed at helping disadvantaged groups in society (the elderly, women, children) to recover and develop both economically and spiritually through the sustainable development education activities (training for capacity building and development of skills on social entrepreneurship, compliance with the SDGs).
– Learn about the life of the Bateq people living in Tamang Negara National Park, Kuala Tahan, Jerantut, Pahang. The Bateq people are an indigenous people of the Negrito tribe, living mainly by hunting and gathering. Through community ecotourism activities based on their cultural values, people’s lives are improved, cultural and environmental values are preserved.
– Visit SK Kuala Tahan Primary School, where the first batch of Bateq children attended;
– Experiential learning in Jerantut and National Centre of Excellence for Indigenous Pedagogy, Institute of Teacher Education Tengku Ampuan Afzan Campus (IPGKTAA), and Kuala Lipis, Pahang for the closing event.
